PostSubject: '92 rear lights. how tricky is it finding the right ones?   Sat Aug 13, 2011 8:49 am

Hi I want get a rear light(s) for our '92 camper.

Various ebay ads list this: TOYOTA HI-ACE 8/1995-06

Does this refer to years 1995- 2006? Obvious probably but whats the 8/ bit?

A look on ToyoDiy isn't clear to me. Out of the following which would be the bit on the outside that gets cracked?

Quote :
81550 LAMP ASSY, REAR COMBINATION, RH
81550‑95J10 KZH100, 11*, LH100, 102, 103, 109, 11*, 123, 125, 129, 140, 16*, 17*, 18*, RZH100, 102, 11*, 12*, 133..HRF, SRF 1 $136.34

81551 LENS, REAR COMBINATION LAMP, RH
81551‑95J10 KZH100, 11*, LH100, 102, 103, 109, 11*, 123, 125, 129, 140, 16*, 17*, 18*, RZH100, 102, 11*, 12*, 133..HRF, SRF

Sorry as usual for being a numbnuts. Help and counsel appreciated though.

Marko

EDIT: Forgot to ask. Do the lights have a myriad of different fiitings or are they uniform?

the 8 refers to the month that the bus was built. I believe that they are universal

I just bought aftermarket standard hiace compact rear lamps off ebay...then added some chrome stick on strip in the groove.
If they are sold for the same year and look the same they probably are.
The end result is OK ( fit to the body not as good as originals, but acceptable) and looks the same
The 95+ ones on ebay are for powervan variants so will not fit

Try
http://www.leatherseat.net/
or ebay seller bunjuard-auto
or in UK - local motorfactor (or scrappies) for a set of standard 92 hiace compact lamps...then add the stick on chrome strip (7mm?)
(I have a spare original offside as I renewed mine as a pair)

Not sure about the chrome strip. Don't think mine needs it?

No......usually the supercustoms have a chrome strip running the width of the tailgate above the extra brake lights..the strip continues round the lights just under the reversing section of lamp.
So using compact lamps and adding the chrome strip is just a cheaper way of having supercustom lamps that look right/blend in with the tailgate lights as the originals...
In your case it would be bling because you like it Smile
Its not an ugly touch though, as the 7mm chrome sits in recess section of lamp.
Mine popped out at one end a couple of times after fitting...but some months later its sitting in the groove securely

Ahh I see. Thanks for the tips. The leatherseat link looks like a really useful resource. Cheers.
