Hi, overheating problem blew head gasket, further inspection revealed scored barrels, probably need rebore so might as well seek a replacement engine. Any pointers to a good source would also be helpful.
Cheers.

Maybe keep an eye out on ebay for a cheap full van...take the engine and break the rest.
Its worth knowing the 2.4 (2L) bare head is supposed to be the same bare head as the 3L....cam etc. different though.
Will the bores not just hone clean?

Thanks Chris,
bores pretty scored, I've seen them but I'm not a mechanic. One piston also removed for inspection and it's as scored so a rebore is the most likely fix. Pistons are £140 +vat each at the cheapest!

Unless anyone knows of a more economical source.

2.8 engines rarer than an honest politician. Will any other engine, e.g 3.0l td ( enough of those about ) fit?

All help, advice , pointers in the direction of resources gratefully appreciated.

If you are going to the expense of re powering I'd go for the KZH 100 3 ltr turbo. They don't appear to have head problems like the earlier ones, and the go damn well. The electrics could be a big hurdle tho.. Good luck with what ever you do
