Overdrive off for decending a steep hill - like changing down in a manual box. I leave the overdrive on up hills and let the 'box decide what's best If you are doing over 80 kph and you switch the overdrive off then the 'box immediately comes out of torque convertor "lockup" and selects 3rd gear and the engine starts screaming, if you're ascending a hill in overdrive the 'box automatically slips out of lockup below 80 kph and goes into overdrive, much like 4th gear in a manual box - much less din from the engine bay! | |
