| hello there does anyone know what the red button is for next to the auto gear stick on my hiace, also there is a button that has ect on it, what does that do ? | |

| The red button releases the gearstick. Its used incase the battery is dead or you can't start the engine. In these circumstances you can't normally move the gearstick, so if you needed to tow or move the van you couldn't, the button lets you put it into neutral | |

| ... and ect stands for ''electronic control transmission'' it holds onto the gears a little longer when its on. | |
